GETTING TO SARAJEVO

Sarajevo is a captivating destination nestled in the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina. If you’re planning to attend the congress at Unitic and are considering different modes of transportation to reach Sarajevo, here are some options for you:

Arriving by plane:

Sarajevo has its own international airport, Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ), which offers convenient access to the city. The airport is located approximately 10 kilometres southwest of the city center and provides various transportation options.
Upon your arrival at Sarajevo International Airport, you can choose between taxi services, public buses, or rental cars to reach your desired destination in the city. Taxis are readily available outside the terminal, and the fare to the city center typically ranges from 20 to 30 Bosnian Convertible Marks (BAM), which is approximately 10 to 15 euros.
Public buses also connect the airport to different parts of Sarajevo. You can purchase bus tickets at the airport or directly on the bus. The journey to the city center takes about 30 minutes.
If you prefer the flexibility of having your own vehicle, several car rental agencies operate at the airport. This option allows you to explore Sarajevo and its surroundings at your own pace.

Arriving by bus:

Sarajevo has an extensive bus network that connects it with various cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as neighbouring countries. The central bus station, known as the Sarajevo Central Bus Station (Autobuska Stanica Sarajevo), is conveniently located in the city center, making it easy to access your accommodation and the congress venue.
Many international bus lines also serve Sarajevo, providing connections to cities in Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, and beyond. The bus journey to Sarajevo from nearby cities is often a scenic and comfortable way to travel.

Arriving by car:

Traveling to Sarajevo by car offers the flexibility to explore the beautiful landscapes of Bosnia and Herzegovina along the way. Major highways connect Sarajevo with neighbouring cities and countries.
If you’re coming from Dubrovnik, Croatia, you can take the E65 highway, which offers picturesque views as it winds through the Bosnian countryside. Make sure to check the current border crossing requirements and have the necessary documents when crossing international borders.
Alternatively, if you’re arriving from other European destinations, such as Zagreb, Budapest, or Belgrade, you can follow well-marked highways that lead to Sarajevo.

Arriving by train:

While train travel in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not as extensive as in some other European countries, there are train services that connect Sarajevo with other cities within the country. The main railway station in Sarajevo is conveniently located near the city center.
